  1. Website Upgrade and App Icon

We’ve just launched our new website and wanted to tell all our fellow seafood lovers! It looks very similar to our previous design, but thanks to Ramsay, our designer, we now have a mobile-friendly website that changes it’s layout to suit the device you’re viewing it on. Great news for people on the go who want to quickly make a reservation on their mobile.

You can also add an ‘app’ icon to your iPhone (and other smartphones!) so you can quickly access your favourite seafood restaurant website on the go. All you need to do is visit our homepage while using safari and then press the small middle button at the bottom of the screen with an arrow on it (or a ‘plus’ sign) and press ‘add to homescreen’ and our Ship’s wheel will appear as an app on your homescreen! For other smartphones, a quick google search on how to add a bookmark shortcut to your homescreen (and your device name) should return some instructions, such as these instructions on how to do it for an android phone.

Feel free to let us know of any issues you may experience when using the website, and we hope to see you all soon.

    27 - The Ship's Smokehouse Platter

We’re delighted to have our ‘Smokehouse Platter’ included in The Times Magazine article titled “30 Things To Eat Before You Die”.

That’s quite an accolade. Not only that, but The Ship was only one of two selected dishes found at restaurants in Scotland!

“If I’m in Edinburgh, I will usually go down to the waterfront in Leith to visit The Ship on the Shore for one of it’s famous Smokehouse Platters. The dish brings together the finest Scottish seafood; Arbroath smokies, salmon, queen scallops, mackerel, haddock and mussels – one generous portion really is more than enough for two to share. It’s very simple, but utterly delicious – and even better sitting outside by the water with a glass of champagne.”

A big thank you must go to Olga Polizzi who chose our Smokehouse platter to be included in this prestigious list.

  5. Britain’s Best Foodie Street

The Ship has been selected in Google’s Street View – 2010 Best Street Awards.

The Ship on the Shore was runner-up in the ‘Best Foodie Street’ category, in competition with various other streets in the UK. Voting was carried out by a specialist Panel, comprising of VisitBritain and various professionals in the food industry.

We’d like to say congratulations to everyone else on The Shore and hope we can all make improvements and perhaps take it to the next stage and win the award in 2011.
