We’re delighted to announce that we’ve been featured in The Guardian’s “10 of the best restaurants in Edinburgh”.
Jonathan Jones flatteringly writes, “Try a bowl of steamed Shetland mussels “ they’ll provide you with an enduring memory of this fine City”.

We’re delighted to have our ‘Smokehouse Platter’ included in The Times Magazine article titled “30 Things To Eat Before You Die”.
That’s quite an accolade. Not only that, but The Ship was only one of two selected dishes found at restaurants in Scotland!
“If I’m in Edinburgh, I will usually go down to the waterfront in Leith to visit The Ship on the Shore for one of it’s famous Smokehouse Platters. The dish brings together the finest Scottish seafood; Arbroath smokies, salmon, queen scallops, mackerel, haddock and mussels – one generous portion really is more than enough for two to share. It’s very simple, but utterly delicious – and even better sitting outside by the water with a glass of champagne.”
A big thank you must go to Olga Polizzi who chose our Smokehouse platter to be included in this prestigious list.
Usually known for his humorous football analysis, even managing to get his own show on the telly a while back, Tam Cowan came to The Ship on behalf of the Daily Record.
He had many kind words for our seafood and champagne selection and we’d like to thank him for his kind words of praise.

The Ship has been selected in Google’s Street View – 2010Â Best Street Awards.
The Ship on the Shore was runner-up in the ‘Best Foodie Street’ category, in competition with various other streets in the UK. Voting was carried out by a specialist Panel, comprising of VisitBritain and various professionals in the food industry.
We’d like to say congratulations to everyone else on The Shore and hope we can all make improvements and perhaps take it to the next stage and win the award in 2011.
